  • Chris Hurst Out Raises Yost for 2nd Straight Fundraising Period

    BLACKSBURG, Va.- With contributions from more than 1,400 people, Chris Hurst’s campaign for Delegate raised $86,480 since April, with Delegate Joseph Yost raising just $51,324 during the most recent financial reporting period, marking the second straight reporting period where Hurst out raised Yost.

    “Since February, we have seen an unprecedented level of excitement for our campaign,” Hurst said. “In four months of campaigning three times as many 12th District residents have invested in our campaign than Delegate Yost has had in his entire career in the House of Delegates. I’m grateful and humbled by the enthusiasm from so many local voters. People are ready for a change in Richmond.”

    In total for the campaign cycle, Hurst has raised nearly $171,000 since he announced his candidacy in February, more money than Yost raised since the beginning of 2016.

    Prior to his campaign for Delegate, Chris was evening anchor of WDBJ7 for six years, serving the people of southwest Virginia. During that time, he was recognized as “Media Person of the Year” by the National Alliance on Mental Illness, “Citizen of the Year” by the Roanoke NAACP, and “Your Local Hero” by the readers of the Roanoker magazine. He twice won a regional Edward R. Murrow award and was nominated for an Emmy award.

  • Del. John Bell Shows Intense Grassroots Support in Campaign Finance Filing

    CHANTILLY, Va.: During the most recent campaign finance reporting period, Delegate John J. Bell (D – Loudoun) raised $87,753.33 from 592 individual contributions between April 1 and June 1, 2017.

    “I’m so humbled to have the support of so many who believe in making Virginia work for everyone. From making sure our children have the best public education to keeping our neighborhood safe, my vision for the 87th District has immense support,” said Del. Bell. “With an average contribution of just $126, this campaign is everyone’s, not just mine. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to the 1,102 contributors so far this cycle for your continued support.”
