With this news, it appears that Dr. Babur Lateef will be the Democratic nominee to take on – and hopefully defeat – Prince William County Board of Supervisors Chair Corey Stewart.
Democrat Gary C. Friedman has decided to drop out of the race for chairman of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors.
Friedman, the current planning commissioner and a Gainesville resident, said in a release that the reduced campaigning time due to redistricting will make it even tougher than usual for a candidate to unseat an incumbent. Because of a shift in population growth in the western parts of the county, the seven magisterial districts need to change boundaries in order to even out the population of the districts.
Friedman also believes that Babur Lateef, a Woodbridge physician and Democrat challenger to incumbent Corey A. Stewart, is a solid candidate and doesn’t need the added challenge of competing against another Democrat in the August primaries.

To put it mildly, Dr. Lateef would be a far, far, FAR superior leader of Prince William County than the divisive xenophobe and all-around disaster, Corey Stewart. That’s not a backhanded compliment, either; I honestly believe that Dr. Lateef would do a great job in making Prince William County the best place it can be for all its citizens. Unlike the guy who has divided the community and helped exacerbate an already bad situation with real estate and the economy in general. Heckuva job, in other words, by Corey Stewart. Not.
