Virginia League of Conservation Voters Endorses Alfonso Lopez for Delegate
Cites Lopez’s Experience and Ability to be a Champion for Virginia’s Environment
(Richmond, VA) – Today, the Virginia League of Conservation Voters (VALCV) announces their endorsement of Alfonso Lopez for House of Delegates. VALCV works to elect candidates who will fight to protect Virginia’s natural resources, our abundant wildlife, and our irreplaceable historic sites.
“We need leaders in Richmond who are prepared to champion the environment and will be strong advocates for Virginia values,” said Lisa Guthrie, Executive Director of VALCV. “In the 49th District, one candidate is clearly prepared to be a champion for Virginia’s environment. Alfonso will fight for our priorities.”
Lopez has been in the trenches on environment and energy policy for years – fighting for safer communities, coastal protection, energy efficiency, conservation, clean water, and remediation of toxic sites. Lopez worked on these issues as an intern in the Clinton administration, as a staffer in the U.S. Senate, as an advocate with Physicians for Social Responsibility, and as the Director of the Virginia Liaison Office under Governor Kaine.
“As a committed conservationist, I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Virginia League of Conservation Voters,” said Lopez. “For the past decade the Virginia League of Conservation Voters has been helping to lead the charge on issues of environment, energy, and transit in our communities. If elected, I will fight alongside VALCV to bring real transportation solutions to Northern Virginia, help build the clean energy economy in Virginia, and keep the ban on uranium mining.”
Alfonso Lopez is a candidate for Virginia House of Delegates in the 49th District. With nearly 20 years of legislative experience at the highest levels in federal and state government and a record of achievement in our community, Lopez has dedicated his life to public service and Virginia.
