Virginia New Majority Endorses Alfonso Lopez for Delegate

Cites Lopez’s Experience Working on Issues Impacting the Immigrant and LGBT Communities

The Virginia New Majority has endorsed Alfonso Lopez for the 49th District of the Virginia House of Delegates. The Virginia New Majority organizes progressive activists throughout Virginia in order to raise civic participation among underrepresented populations. Virginia New Majority is aiming to reach more than 20,000 voters during their Southern Solidarity Summer.

Alfonso has been a strong advocate for immigrant and LGBT rights for over a decade,” said Tram Nguyen. “He worked as the Chair of the Democratic Latino Organization of Virginia and as a Board Member for the Shirlington Employment and Education Center. As a member of the Statewide Advisory Board of the Commonwealth Coalition, Alfonso fought the passage of the Marshall-Newman amendment. We know that we can count on Alfonso to protect the rights of minorities and to help their voices be heard.”

Virginia New Majority joins the Washington Post, the Virginia Partisans, the Virginia Chapter of the Sierra Club, and the Virginia League of Conservation Voters in endorsing Lopez.

“I am honored to have the endorsement of Virginia New Majority,” said Lopez. “This is an organization that is standing up for the civil rights that many others have forgotten and are willing to invest the time and resources it takes to make an impact. I look forward to working with the Virginia New Majority to bring our progressive values to Richmond.”

Alfonso Lopez is a candidate for Virginia House of Delegates in the 49th District. With nearly 20 years of legislative experience at the highest levels in federal and state government and a record of achievement in our community, Lopez has dedicated his life to public service and Virginia.
