President Obama: “If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon.”

Clearly, this situation is outrageous and utterly unacceptable. No, it’s not ok in a civilized society for anyone to use “hey, I felt threatened” to get away with murder (at least, in this case, the shooter should be under arrest while every aspect of the case is thoroughly investigated). For the perspective of Lori Haas, whose daughter was shot at Virginia Tech and who now works to prevent gun violence, please click here. Bottom line: we need justice for Trayvon, and we need to push back hard against laws that allow people to use deadly force whenever they claim to “feel threatened.” That’s far too broad, dangerous, and ultimately deadly.
