Stunning and terrible news today from the Norfolk City Democratic Committee:
Long-time member and always devoted Democrat, Maria LoPresto passed away last night. She had gone to take care of her ailing mother in Charlottesville when she died. Details of what happened are few but conjecture is that it may have been related to asthma. Maria was always strong in her convictions and devoted to the cause and very smart. She had just started working for the Sierra Club, a position which made her proud and happy. For many, many years Maria has worked relentlessly and tirelessly to help elect Democrats to office.
The Democratic Party has lost one of our strongest supporters. May she rest in peace.
“Maria was fiercely loyal to her friends, and I’m proud to have been counted among them,” said Vivian Paige. Many, many more tributes are pouring in on Maria’s Facebook wall.
