Patrick Murray Picks Up Where He Left Off in 2010: Utter Idiocy and a Sure Loss

Remember 8th CD Republican nominee for Congress, Patrick Murray? Last we heard from him, he was busy running an utterly brain-dead campaign, which unsurprisingly resulted in his getting crushed, 61%-37%, by Rep. Jim Moran on election day, 2010. A few “highlights” from that campaign include:

*Campaigning in this bright “blue” district with the likes of George Allen (30% of the vote in the 8th CD in 2006), Ken Cuccinelli (32% in Arlington, 35% in Alexandria in 2009), Bill Bolling (33% in Arlington, 35% in Alexandria) and Bob McDonnell (34% of the vote in Arlington, 37% in Alexandria). Brilliant.

*Demonstrating that he has no clue about the deficit, debt, or just about anything else for that matter.

*Getting demolished by Jim Moran in a debate, as Moran set the record straight on Murray’s demonstrable lies.

*Trying (and failing) to cover up his “drill baby drill” idiocy, including for oil off the coast of Virginia.

*Not even trying to cover up his extremism, posing with Alaska extremist nutjob Joe Miller and crazy Jim DeMint, who boasted that he wanted to “break” Barack Obama.

*Leaving the scene of a hit-and-run in Old Town Alexandria.

Etc, etc. Anyway, believe it or not, this loser is back for more in 2012, and he’s off to a fine start with the video I’ve embedded above. In this case, of course, Murray is wrong that “Obamacare” is bad for the budget. Don’t believe me? How about the non-partisan, authoritative Congressional Budget Office which found that the Affordable Care Act “would produce a net reduction in federal deficits of $143 billion over the 2010-2019 period as result of changes in direct spending and revenues,” and that repealing the law would lead to “an increase [in federal deficits] in the vicinity of $230 billion.” Perhaps Patrick Murray missed all that? Or perhaps he just doesn’t care about the facts? Regardless, he’s going to get crushed this November once again. In the meantime, though, I’m sure he’ll provide us a great deal of entertaining idiocy over the next 4 1/2 months! 🙂
