I’m definitely glad to see this news, that Democratic politico Mo Elleithee – based in DC but having worked on numerous Virginia campaigns – will soon be the new Communications Director at the Democratic National Committee. Mo is a top-notch communicator, including on cable news shout fests, where he calmly but firmly – to paraphrase Harry Truman – doesn’t give them Hell, he just tells the truth about them and they think it’s Hell! Anyway, congratulations and best of luck to Mo in giving them…the truth, of course. 🙂
When Nick Baldick and I teamed up to start Hilltop Public Solutions in January of 2006, I knew we were starting something special. Today, seven and half years later, I’m proud to see Hilltop has emerged as one of the top public affairs and political consulting firms in the nation. We’ve grown from a small office suite in Georgetown, to offices in Washington, New York, Boston, Denver, Montana and Oregon. We’ve got one of the best staffs in the country, and our success is entirely due their innovation and hard work. I’m honored to know and work with each and every one of them.
But life is full of transitions, and this seems like a good a time as any to take a temporary pause from the firm to pursue a new challenge.
At the end of this week I’ll be taking a leave of absence from Hilltop to become the new Communications Director at the Democratic National Committee.
I couldn’t be more thrilled or humbled, and I know I’ve got the misfortune of trying to follow in the huge footsteps of Brad Woodhouse, who set a new standard in his five years in the job.
But I’m eager to join Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz and the rest of the outstanding DNC team to help advance President Obama’s agenda, and support our great Democratic candidates to secure victories up and down the ticket. Whether its implementing health care reform, fighting for an economic agenda that will help the middle class, pushing for comprehensive immigration reform, protecting voting rights, or ensuring equal rights for all Americans – Democrats are leading the way. This is an exciting time for the Democratic Party, and I’m excited to help share that story.
You can reach me at my Hilltop email address until the end of this week. After that, you can find me over at the DNC communications shop once I get settled. (That is if you don’t find me on Twitter first @moelleithee!)
Thanks!
