As expected (see email below). Thanks to Charniele Herring for her hard work over the past year; it was a pleasure seeing her on stage with Terry McAuliffe, Ralph Northam, Mark Herring — and oh yeah, also President Obama and former President Clinton. 🙂 I just wish we could have picked up a bunch of seats in the House of Delegates; oh well.

P.S. I say “as expected” because Charniele Herring reportedly didn’t like the job, and also is widely rumored to be planning a run for Congress in the 8th CD.

UPDATE: NBC 4 reports that Charniele Herring has announced for Congress (“I’m excited to announce I will be running for Congress to represent the 8th District”).

Dear Friends,

I am writing to you today with a number of updates. It has been an exciting and harrowing first quarter of the year so far, but we have continued our Democratic momentum by securing two special election victories in the State Senate.

I am proud of the work that we have done together over the past year. We swept our statewide offices, kept our advantage in the State Senate, and even picked up a seat in the House of Delegates.

Yet, there is so much more that we need to do as a Party and as a Democratic family. We are fortunate to have a Governor who wants to make DPVA the strongest state party in the country. And I have been blessed to be part of that process.

With all of that being said, I am providing your with my resignation as Chair effective of our March 15th Central Committee meeting, at which time an election for a new Chair will take place.

Details of this process and the election for my replacement will be forthcoming.

I do intend to fulfill my commitment to find our next executive director, working with our statewide leadership. The interview process is coming along, and I will have results to report to those who wish to provide input shortly. However, the rest of the staffing-up process will need to left in the hands of the new Executive Director and Chair.

Next week, an update staffing list will be circulated so that you know who to contact with the various needs of your committees and caucuses. In the meantime, if you have questions, please reach out.

It has been an honor serving as your Chair.

Best,

Charniele
