Here are a few national and Virginia news headlines, political and otherwise, for Thursday, October 6. Also check out “What will you say?” by Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
- How Trump ‘absolutely’ corrupts the GOP
- Against Donald Trump (“For the third time since The Atlantic’s founding, the editors endorse a candidate for president. The case for Hillary Clinton.”)
- National Post-Debate Tracking Poll of Latino Voters Has Clinton With 83% Support (Trump somehow gets 11% of the Latino vote. I wonder if he’ll do any better among Asian Americans, Jewish Americans, LGBT Americans, disabled Americans, etc. He should NOT do any better among women, veterans, anyone who works for a living, etc.)
- Another tax bombshell: Daddy Trump had to set up $38 million slush fund to bail Donald out prior to 1980
- Donald Trump’s Tax Records: A Tale of Business Failures (Trump is an absolutely horrible “businessman,” he’s more of a con artist, tax cheat and corporate welfare mooch who games the system and screws over the “little guy.” Lovely, huh?)
- Donald Trump’s Slip in Polls Has G.O.P. Worried About Congress (Let’s hope that includes Barbara Comstock here in Virginia!)
- Paris climate deal a ‘turning point’ in global warming fight, Obama says (“Commitments from other countries push accord forward and is set to be activated on 4 November after the EU, Canada and India ratify the agreement” Great news, unless you’re a fossil fuel executive or a right winger who loves fossil fuel executives like Paul Ryan.)
- Fox News’ stunningly racist interview in Chinatown won’t do any favors for Donald Trump (“It fits into a long history of ‘othering’ Asian Americans.”)
- Jesse Watters: The Worst Of The Worst (“Fox News is under fire after The O’Reilly Factor on October 3 aired a blatantly racist edition of Jesse Watters’ segment ‘Watters’ World.’ Watters interviewed people in New York City’s Chinatown neighborhood, asking questions such as ‘Am I supposed to bow to say hello?’ ‘Tell me what’s not made in China?’ and ‘Do you know karate?'” Yep, that’s the official Republican Party TV “news” network for ya. Ugh.)
- WATCH: Chaos breaks out at Trump rally as reporter tries to interview alt-right Holocaust denier (Yep, this is what Trump has brought crawling out from under slimy rocks.)
- The Clinton campaign taps Al Gore to help solve their Millennial problem (“The campaign is hoping that by bringing on Gore as a surrogate, they can engage young voters who care about climate change.”)
- Trump: Campaign ‘will be the greatest waste of time, money and energy’ if I lose (Narcissism and pathetic whining as usual from the Trumpster fire.)
- Hannity Lashes Out At Colleague Megyn Kelly For Pointing Out Trump’s Media Retreat To Hannity’s Show (LOL, lovin’ it.)
- Republicans stole photo to attack Tim Kaine’s background as a lawyer (“An image used in the ad was lifted from a Virginia alt-weekly.”)
- Donald Trump is ruining football (“A new report details fractured locker rooms and ruined friendships.” This is undoubtedly happening across America, thanks to Trump. In other words, even if he loses on November 8, Trump has already done enormous damage to America.)
- 2 million under evacuation orders as Hurricane Matthew churns toward Southeast U.S.
- A President Trump could destroy the world economy
- The de-Reaganization of the Republican Party (“The GOP has become the Party of Trump instead.”)
- Clinton campaign’s debate strategy extends far beyond the stage (“Both Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine had a larger goal in mind than winning their debates: To create a series of compelling sound bites that they planned to weaponize against Donald Trump for the remainder of the campaign.”)
- Mike Pence and the Failure of the Republican Establishment (“In their hearts, they know they are wrong.”)
- Should Gov. Pence have been asked about his LGBT record? (The fact that he wasn’t asked about this is mind boggling.)
- How the Clinton campaign is making #ThatMexicanThing a thing, explained
- Paul Ryan’s slow-motion downfall: Stuck between Trump and the Tea Party, what’s a policy wonk to do?
- New Hillary Clinton ad demolishes every Mike Pence lie from vice presidential debate (For anyone saying Pence “won” the debate Tuesday night, please explain how basically not answering any question and lying on the questions you DID answer constitutes “winning.”)
- Congressman Don Beyer Visits HRC’s Equality Votes Phone Bank
- Comstock, Bennett square off in first debate for House seat (The moderator should ask Comstock if she believes her party’s presidential nominee is a role model for children.)
- Toss up? Down ticket in the 5th District
- Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe On Cybersecurity
- Tim Kaine Never Really Cared About “Winning” His Debate (“This is typical of the Clinton campaign’s buttoned-down but very focused strategy. And it’s working.”)
- ‘Donald Trump won’ VP debate, Mike Pence says in Rockingham (Hahahahaha. Yeah right!)
- Virginia denies claim it unfairly suspends driver’s licenses
- Virginia analysts surprised by Kaine’s aggression, but say debate likely did not change race
- Ballot selfies are legal in Virginia, attorney general says
- Molly Ward: McAuliffe working to fight sea-level rise (Not doing nearly enough, not even close.)

Morrissey held a news conference at his law office Wednesday to condemn a Richmond Times-Dispatch opinion column that described Morrissey as ‘having an enduring appeal to the city’s underclass.'”)
- 23 arrested outside Gov. McAuliffe’s mansion during protest (“Twenty-three people were arrested Wednesday for trespassing in front of the Executive Mansion following a peaceful, three-day protest urging Gov. Terry McAuliffe to reject a pair of proposed fracked-gas pipelines, require power companies to clean up or move coal ash ponds before closing them and pass measures to prevent rising sea levels.”)
