Fairfax County, VA Special Election Aug. 29 – Another Skirmish Important For the State and Nation.

After this weekend’s mess in Charlottesville, the stakes are even higher in Virginia and the nation to correct course.

The first chance to do so comes soon — in two weeks, in fact, with a special election to fill a seat on the Fairfax County school board.

“A school board race,” you say with incredulity, “Are you kidding me?”

No. Not kidding. Not in the slightest.

On the practical side, this is one of the largest, wealthiest, best educated counties in the country, and so it carries an outsized importance in the Commonwealth and the country.

On the personal side, I grew up in Fairfax County, went to school there, and know how important these positions are. So getting it right is important.

On the political side, with Virginia having elections for basically every elected position in the state coming up just over a month later, this election will help with momentum in the lead-up. And that lead-up is incredibly important as those statewide elections with be a true barometer of what’s going on in this country.

And finally, on the candidate side, Karen Keys-Gamarra is a good candidate, period. A lawyer, a member of the Fairfax County Planning Commission (another job of outsized importance), and a parent, she gets it. The link above is to a candidate debate and outlines the candidate’s positions. You’ll find her positions there for your own evaluation.

So if you can, please help out this candidate with a couple bucks, which you can do so following the links below. Thanks for listening, but don’t listen to me — listen to the candidate herself in this video.

There’s a lot at stake.  Please contribute if you can — and spread the word.  When we vote, we win.
