Innnnteresting on at least a few levels. First, I find it fascinating that 16 Virginia House of Delegates candidates – all Democrats, of course – have signed on to supporting single-payer health care in Virginia. Second, I would note that other than Lee Carter, none of these candidates are in one of the 17 districts won by Hillary Clinton last November. Third, of course, the VA GOP immediately attacked this, calling it “an October surprise in a good way for us” and claiming (predictably) that “I don’t think anybody in Virginia supports putting the government in charge of our healthcare.” Your thoughts? Is this smart policy? smart politics? both? neither?
