Mike Pence at Closed Press Fundraiser: “President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence Want Ed Gillespie to be the Next Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia.”
Gillespie Still Refuses to Invite Donald Trump to Virginia — Yet the Vice President Says In Third Person That He and Trump Have His Back
After a dismal and low-energy rally in Abingdon a couple of weeks ago, Gillespie invited Vice President Mike Pence back to Virginia today — but for a fundraiser that was closed to the public and closed to press.
Part of the reason was likely due to the failure of the last event, but also because Mike Pence was ready to tout the support of Trump — something that Ed Gillespie still refuses to do.
Sadly, Ed Gillespie is all alone in his don’t-bring-Trump-to-Virginia boat.
Earlier this week, Virginia Congressman Scott Taylor asked Donald Trump to come campaign for the Virginia GOP ticket. Trump Virginia co-chair John Fredericks continues to report on his radio show that Gillespie’s running mate Jill Vogel wants the President to campaign for her. Last week, Congressman Dave Brat told radio host Laura Ingraham that he thought Gillespie would have problems if he “wasn’t all in for” Trump. And Corey Stewart has gone on recordsaying that he thinks Gillespie needs a visit from Trump to excite the Republican base.
So while Mike Pence is willing to say this behind closed doors — when will Ed Gillespie accept the endorsement for all of Virginia to see?
“The President sent me here to say to all of you gathered here, and all of you that you will contact in the days between now and election day – President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence want Ed Gillespie to be the next Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia.”
