Young People tell Trump, “Hands off our birth control”
On 20 college campuses, students reached over 2,700 voters
Richmond, Va. – This weekend, Planned Parenthood Generation Action and NextGen Virginia college chapters hosted a massive “Reclaiming My Health” day of action at 20 college campuses across the Commonwealth, reaching 2,759 voters. Young people know that the issues that matter most to Virginians, like women’s economic equality, access to care at Planned Parenthood health centers and expanding Medicaid are on the line in this election. That is why they mobilized to educate their peers and turnout voters for reproductive health champions Dr. Ralph Northam, Justin Fairfax, and Attorney General Mark Herring.
Healthcare is a top issue for young voters. On National Voter Registration Day, Planned Parenthood Generation Action and NextGen teamed up to organize student voter registration drives on campuses. In an interview with the Cavalier Daily at UVA’s voter registration event, freshman Alexis Allen cited her concern about attacks on Planned Parenthood and communities of color as motivation to vote in the November election.

Polling shows that 80 percent of voters support Planned Parenthood and reject efforts to block patients who rely on Medicaid from accessing life-saving care at Planned Parenthood. In addition, 20 national polls all show overwhelming support for Planned Parenthood. A PerryUndem poll found that even 57% of Trump voters oppose actions that would prohibit women from accessing birth control, well-woman care, and cancer screenings at Planned Parenthood.
