See below for statements by Sen. Tim Kaine and Sen. Mark Warner on today’s Senate #FAIL regarding protections for DREAMers, immigration reform, etc. As usual, the fault lies with Trump and his merry band of extremist Republicans. Heckuva job, huh?

KAINE STATEMENT ON FAILED VOTE TO PROTECT DREAMERS

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tim Kaine released the following statement following the Senate’s vote on a compromise deal to protect Dreamers, which failed 54 – 45:

“President Trump created a crisis, asked Congress to clean up his mess, and when we reached a compromise that delivered on his promises to protect Dreamers and boost border security, he refused to take yes for an answer and tanked the deal. I’m disappointed, but I won’t give up on protecting Dreamers from deportation. La lucha sigue – the fight continues.”

For the last month, Kaine worked with a bipartisan group of Senators to reach this deal that would have protected 1.8 million Dreamers and boosted border security by the $25 billion that President Trump asked for.

STATEMENT OF U.S. SEN. MARK R. WARNER

~ On the Senate’s failure to pass bipartisan protection for Dreamers ~

WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Mark R. Warner (D-VA) released the following statement after the Senate failed to advance bipartisan legislation to protect young immigrants known as Dreamers:

“I’m extremely disappointed that our reasonable, bipartisan compromise failed to garner the 60 votes needed to move forward. I will continue to work with my colleagues to protect the Dreamers, who know no other home but America.”
