See below for two items from 27-year federal prosecutor and 2017 Virginia Democratic Lt. Governor candidate Gene Rossi that I thought were worth passing along:
Based on my 27 years with the USDOJ, most of which was in my precious EDVA, I can safely predict this: we are in store for a truly historic Constitutional crisis that will test our fidelity to the Rule of Law. Moreover, the 45th President of the United States is in very deep legal trouble.
When former FBI Director Jim Comey, who may have perjured himself in May 2017 before the Senate Judiciary Committee about leaks, was fired by an unethical POTUS, he was under investigation for improper conduct by DOJ’s IG and OPR. Why? The FBI Director clearly violated two sacred tenets of career (if not rookie) DOJ prosecutors set forth in the United States Attorneys’ Manual (my former Bible) and DOJ custom/practice: (1) do not reveal the existence of an ongoing investigation; and (2) do not comment on an uncharged target. Thus, his two sycophant-like letters sent to appease Republicans just before the 2016 election and his sanctimonious Showboat Press Conference, in which he trashed Hillary, in July 2016 were disgraceful and not worthy of a career prosecutor. I am now incredibly ambivalent. I think many of the allegations in Comey’s self-aggrandizing book about #45 are absolutely accurate. I just wish a more ethical person had written that book.
