Video: Chesapeake Climate Action Network Interviews Activists Following #StandWithRed Press Conference

2

Thanks to the Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN) for their great work in general, and for interviewing activists following this morning’s #StandWithRed #StreamByStream press conference. See below for video of: 1) attorney Jonathan Sokolow, who was a major organizer of today’s event and has been outspoken – including on Blue Virginia – for months about the Mountain Valley Pipeline, Atlantic Coast Pipeline, environmental justice, etc.; 2) Del. Mark Keam, who expressed regret that he hadn’t acted even earlier than he did about these pipelines, but after the legislature took no action and he saw what was happening with Red, environmental justice issues, etc., he decided to call this press conference (thank you!); 3) three activists (not sure what their names are) who urged everyone to contact Gov. Northam and urge him to order a stream-by-stream-analysis, also to contact AG Mark Herring, who “has been utterly silent” on this and should be taking action; 4) Sharon Ponton of the Blue Ridge Environmental Defense League, who emphasized that we are ONE Commonwealth and it doesn’t matter if it’s rural Virginia, Hampton Roads or Northern Virginia, we all need to be paying attention to what’s happening to each other and to the pipeline “travesties”; and 5) Lainie Sullivan (?), who emphasized the importance of coming to events like this morning’s and showing support for the environment and for people fighting against fracked-gas pipelines.
