Fredericksburg, VA – Edwin Santana’s campaign for Congress, today, released their first video ad, ‘Thoughts and Prayers’ taking aim at the NRA, Rob Wittman, and a Republican party that has enabled the United States’ culture of mass shootings and gun violence.
The Moms Demand Action designated candidate stated, “3,401 Americans have died from terror attacks since 2001. In that same time period, over 440,000 people have died from gun violence in the United States.
The NRA no longer represents its members or responsible gun owners. It is nothing but a propaganda organization that deals in culture wars, far right extremism, and lobbying of elected officials on behalf of the gun manufacturing industry. I’m ready to stand up and lead, because thoughts and prayers are not enough.”
The Santana campaign has pledged to fight in Congress for an assault weapons ban, universal background checks, and closing the gun show loophole. “Gun violence is not just a political issue, it is a public safety issue, and we cannot sit silently as elected officials like Rob Wittman turn a blind eye to the appalling gun violence problem in the United States. Enough is enough” said Edwin. With only 14 days remaining until the June 12 Primary Election, the Santana campaign is focused on voter outreach and looks forward to taking this fight directly to Wittman in the General.
