Democratic Party of Virginia Chair Susan Swecker was on the Kojo Nnamdi Show (WAMU-FM) yesterday, and she had some choice words for Corey Stewart. She also had a very funny riff on “Bigfoot porn,” which is well worth listening to (if you need a good laugh). Check it out, below (note: I didn’t include video for both because the audio’s dead for the first few minutes of Swecker’s interview). Bolding added by me for emphasis.
Regarding Corey Stewart and his insane attacks on Tim Kaine’s service as a Christian missionary in Honduras when he was a young man, Swecker said:
“Look, this was a new low for [Corey Stewart]. Every time you think you can’t go any lower… You know, last year when he was running for the Republican nomination for governor he praised Southern secession and went down and attended some sort of a Civil War ball reenactment in Danville. But to take something like this and pretend that Tim Kaine was a part of this when…that part of Tim Kane’s life was incredibly important to him; he is very faith-based, he talks very openly about what that year in Honduras meant to him and working and he’s carried those values throughout his whole life. So I think that was a new low for [Corey Stewart]. But look, Corey Stewart would rather climb up in a tree and tell a lie than stand on the ground and tell the truth. I mean, his whole campaign has been one of nothing but you know deceit and fabrication and outright lies, manifesting itself into cracking open the whole Republican Party, where you have former lieutenant governor Bill Bolling saying, I can’t I can’t support him.” [Tom Sherwood cuts in: “You have to remember, whether you like Tim Kaine’s politics now or not, when he was a Christian missionary in Honduras, he was teaching carpentry and welding to people, he wasn’t just down there spreading the word, he was actually doing things – none of which he’s ever been criticized for before. And to make him sound like some kind of rebel of harming people down there, it’s just part of this crazy summer that we’re in.”]
And now, here’s Susan Swecker on the “Bigfoot porn” silliness, regarding VA-05 Republican candidate Denver Riggleman. In Swecker’s inimitable style, she quipped:
“Well as a Democrat, I say, you know, we like to we stay out of your bedroom — whether it’s a woman and a man, a man and a man, a woman and a woman, a Bigfoot and a man, or two Bigfoots.”
LOL, great line!
