Long-time federal prosecutor and 2017 Virginia Democratic Lt. Governor candidate Gene Rossi was on “Morning Joe” this morning to discuss the Paul Manafort trial. According to Gene Rossi: 1) Judge Ellis “is not a potted plant…not a judge who’s going to sit back”; 2) Judge Ellis was very tough on the prosecutors in week #1, but by the end of last week, “the relative warmth he showed the prosecution’s case seemed to evolve a little bit”; 3) why? because “I think he now gets this case, he now sees the big picture”; 4) “I have done 30 tax trials…I have never seen more greed, lies and manipulation in a tax trial than I’ve seen in this one; it is off the charts; on a scale of 1-10 on greed a 13, lies 11, manipulation 12, it’s unbelievable.”
