Video: VA-06 Dem Jennifer Lewis on Bobby Goodlatte Endorsement, Importance of Family…and of Voting

"It would be really devastating to hear that Bobby's endorsement of us led to any family arguments or any kind of hurt feelings"

I’m not sure exactly who these Breaking Through News folks are, but I’ve seen several of their videos on YouTube, and they do a very good job. For instance, check out their interview with VA-06 Democratic candidate Jennifer Lewis (see video, below), in which Lewis talks about her campaign, about the top issue voters (health care by far!) raise at the doors, and of course about the Bobby Goodlatte endorsement. On that last point, Lewis talks about the importance of family, despite political differences:

“We all come from different families. You know my dad voted for Donald Trump and I’m a progressive Democrat running for Congress in Virginia. So you know despite our political differences, it’s still family and I love my dad the same as if he would have voted for Hillary Clinton or anybody else. So you know when I go home for the holidays, my dad and I just don’t talk politics. We might, I mean to be honest with you, we throw in a couple jabs here and there. But for the most part we just leave it off the table. And I really sincerely hope that that’s the same way that the Goodlatte family operates, because I believe in the importance of family so much, and it’s such a bedrock of my personal life that it would be really devastating to hear that Bobby’s endorsement of us led to any family arguments or any kind of hurt feelings.”

Lewis also talks about the crucial importance of registering to vote and, of course, voting. She says she looks forward to sharing the debate stage with her Republican opponent, Ben Cline, and also to being the voice of the people of VA-06  – “not special interest groups, not Dominion, note the NRA” – in Washington, DC. Go Jennifer Lewis!
