Karenna Gore to Join Clean Energy Advocates in Rally Opposing Fracked Gas Pipelines

ARLINGTON, Virginia– On Friday, September 7, the Arlington Unitarian Universalist Church will host an uplifting rally of various groups allied against the dangerous and destructive Atlantic Coast and Mountain Valley pipelines.

Dubbed The Rally for our Planet, the event follows months of intensified opposition to to dirty fossil fuels projects like fracked-gas pipelines,. The rally is part of a global effort, with hundreds of actions, and eight in Virginia, taking place under the banner of Rise for Climate to highlight increasing climate impacts and the need for immediate and bold leadership on the issue.

Rise for Climate will set the tone for a series of upcoming political moments and challenge decision-makers heading into a series of major summits to embrace the reality of the climate crisis and step up their actions to tackle it. Globally, people are calling on decision-makers at all levels to provide deeper commitments and accelerate their actions.

The event will feature Karenna Gore, Director of the Center for Earth Ethics at Union Theological Seminary, Del. Sam Rasoul, a member of Virginia’s House of Delegates, and speakers from multiple grassroots advocacy groups.
