Yasmine Taeb: What Trump’s Doing at the Southern Border Is “simply unconscionable and so evil”

My mom, three siblings and I came to this country through the Tijuana-San Diego border. I will never forget that night–crossing the border with nothing but the clothes on our backs. We were absolutely terrified but we weren’t fired at with tear gas. We weren’t kicked or turned away at the border because that’s not the America I know and love.

The trauma and horror these families have been through will stay with them for the rest of their lives. Refugees fleeing violence and persecution in their home countries to then be greeted with tear gas in our name at the southern border is simply unconscionable and so evil.
