Congratulations to Karl Frisch on winning the Dem endorsement for Providence District (Fairfax County) School Board. Two great people in this race…Jung Byun being the other candidate. Frisch, who I endorsed (even though I was also very impressed with Byun) will do a great job on the Fairfax County School Board. Go Karl!
Fairfax County Board Chair candidate Alicia Plerhoples wrote, “Congratulations Karl Frisch on your Democratic endorsement for Fairfax County School Board, Providence District! And thank you Jung Byun for running! Two great candidates!”

While members of the Fairfax County School Board serve in public office without party labels attached to their positions, the major political parties like to weigh in on candidates whom they believe best reflect their party’s values and policy positions.
That’s why both the local Democratic and Republican parties “endorse” their preferred candidates, even though they technically file as independent candidates.
It has been a very long time since we had more than one candidate who sought the Democratic Party’s endorsement in their campaign to serve as Providence Magisterial District representative to Fairfax County School Board.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve gotten to know and spend time with both candidates, and I believe they are both outstanding and highly qualified, and either one would make a great public servant.
Tonight, nearly 300 local party members cast their votes in the endorsement process and chose Karl Vincent Frisch over Jung Byun.
I’m proud that Karl will run his campaign over the next six months as our party’s standard bearer, and look forward to actively campaigning for him.
I’m deeply grateful that Jung was willing to step outside of her comfort zone and sought public office this time. She brought a lot of new ideas and enthusiasm to the campaign, and I know her future is very bright.
Congratulations and thanks to both Karl and Jung on their spirited and positive campaigns, and I thank all the Providence District Democrats who came out to support these two great candidates.
