Video: Republican Finally (Sort Of) Comments on Trump’s Racist Tweet; Ken Cuccinelli Dodges, Lies, Blabbers About How It Actually Could be Helpful

Hat tip to Josh Israel of ThinkProgress on this one:

“Ken Cuccinelli, acting director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, was asked during an interview Monday about President Donald Trump’s racist tweets calling for American-born congresswomen of color to be thrown out of the country.

After unsuccessfully pretending to have been too busy focusing on deportations and litigation to know about the tweet, Cuccinelli argued that they were not racist and might even help spur congressional action on border reform.”

Basically, the furthest Cooch – acting Director of the Citizenship and Immigration Services – would go was to say that Trump’s racist tweet was a “hand grenade,” but then agreed that it might actually be “helpful” – if it “starts to jar them to jar [Congress] into actually addressing the problem.” Also gotta love that, when called out regarding his lie about not having seen Trump’s tweet previously, Cooch responded, flippantly, “so what?” And how about Cooch’s feigned ignorance/cluelessness about how Trump’s comments about how U.S. citizens should “go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came” could POSSIBLY be related to…yep, immigration, which Cuccinelli is heavily responsible for in the Trump administration??? Nope, nothing to say on *that* subject. In sum, gotta love Republicans, our country’s very own European-style ultranationalist party, trying to dodge questions about the Racist-in-Chief that they nominated and elected.
