GHAZALA HASHMI RELEASES NEW TV AD FOCUSED ON HEALTH CARE

RICHMOND, VA – This weekend, Ghazala Hashmi’s senate campaign released a new TV advertisement highlighting the differences between her and her Republican opponent on the issue of health care: 400,000 https://youtu.be/0tVkIghgock

“Whether we’re talking to voters in the city of Richmond, the suburbs of Chesterfield, or the rural parts of Powhatan county, access to quality, affordable health care is an issue that comes up again and again,” said campaign manager Philip Stein. “It’s important that voters know where their candidates stand on such a critical and personal issue, which is why we’ve chosen to highlight the distinctions between Ghazala and our Republican opponent when it comes to health care in this ad. Chiefly, Ghazala will fight to protect Medicaid expansion, which gave 400,000 Virginians access to affordable health care, while Senator Sturtevant voted in lockstep with his Republican colleagues against it. Senator Sturtevant can’t run away from his partisan Republican voting record during this election season just because it’s politically expedient for him to do so. Voters know better.” Below is a transcript of the ad:

“Since Virginia expanded Medicaid, 400,000 people can now get the health care that they need. But in the State Senate, Glen Sturtevant voted to deny them health coverage. Sturtevant would take away healthcare from hundreds of thousands of Virginians. Glen Sturtevant votes straight Republican. That’s why health care providers like me trust Ghazala Hashmi. Because Ghazala Hashmi will help make healthcare more affordable for everyone.”

Ghazala Hashmi immigrated to the United States from India 50 years ago, and she has lived in the 10th district for nearly 30 years. Hashmi wants to bring her diverse background, fresh ideas, and extensive experience to the Capitol, because as an educator of 25 years she understands the struggles that so many people in her district and across the Commonwealth face as they try to get ahead in life. Ghazala is focused on standing up for quality public education, affordable health care, and common-sense measures to reduce gun violence. The 10th district is the best pick up opportunity Virginia Democrats have in the Senate this year and thus their strongest chance to win back control of the chamber.
