VA House Democrats statement on Sheila Bynum-Coleman’s TV advertisement

RICHMOND (September 4, 2019) – In response to enthusiasm for her campaign, Sheila Bynum-Coleman and her team have released their first television advertisement of the general election cycle. The advertisement aims to educate the electorate on the ways Kirk Cox has sold out to dark money groups rather than fighting for the people of the 66th district and the citizens of this Commonwealth. House Democratic Caucus Executive Director Trevor Southerland has released the following statement:

“Despite Speaker Cox’s attempts to position himself as moderate following the flip of 15 seats in November 2017, Virginians will not forget his extremist views. History has shown us that Cox will choose to put our environment, and our families, in danger of harmful pollution, he will choose to deny health care to underprivileged Virginians and those with pre-existing conditions and he will choose to put corporations ahead of people, time and time again.”

“While Cox has been telling people how much he loves baseball, Sheila has been talking to voters about the issues that matter to them. This November voters will choose between a representative who has sold out to dark money and one who consistently shown her commitment to the people of the 66th district.”

The Virginia House Democratic Caucus and the Sheila Bynum-Coleman for Delegate campaign are looking forward to a hard won victory this November. The advertisement can be viewed here and is an initial $39,950 one-week television buy. The Virginia House Democratic Caucus previously made a $45,000 digital investment targeting Cox as he adjusts to his newly redrawn district.
