Courtesy of VPAP, check out the following two infographics of “the biggest contributors to Republican and Democratic legislative candidates.” The takeaways:
- Republican money is coming from corporate sources (e.g., Dominion Energy, auto dealers, realtors, beer wholesalers, Altria), and Republican Party sources (e.g., the Republican State Leadership Committee and GOPAC), which of course also are heavily funded by corporate money.
- Democratic money is coming from individuals and grassroots groups which support environmental protection, gun violence prevention, workers’ rights, democracy, women, and reproductive freedom.
Which of these two funding models do you find appealing? Hint: it’s hard to imagine anyone, other than big corporate interests, liking the Republican funding model.
