Campaign to mobilize volunteers to support community members in need and be 1st District triage point for face masks and other vital supplies.

STAFFORD, VA — The Rashid for Congress campaign today announced that they are launching the Compassion Through Action initiative in response to the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. With health experts warning of a coming spike in the public health crisis and local economies slowing to a halt—the Rashid for Congress campaign is mobilizing its volunteer and supporter base, digital reach, and resources to support constituents of Virginia’s 1st District.

“There is currently an urgent need for assistance and support for our neighbors and fellow constituents. Unfortunately the complete lack of leadership from the federal level has made things even more challenging. We cannot afford to wait another moment for help to come to us,” said Qasim Rashid. “Folks are hurting right now and we must use our campaign to support those who are most in need. We might be socially isolated right now, but we can’t forget that we are in this together and that we will get through this difficult moment together.”

The Rashid for Congress campaign is mobilizing volunteers and connecting them with community members who have reached out to the campaign for assistance. The campaign will also be providing constituents with necessary information to support local critical needs for blood donations. In addition to those efforts, the campaign will serve as a triage and distribution hub for personal protective equipment (PPE), including critical N95 respirator and surgical masks (facemasks), and disinfecting supplies.

The campaign urges all Virginians to remain vigilant and exercise the health precautions advised by the Virginia Department of Health, including continued social distancing.
