See below for graphics of the newly posted COVID-19 numbers by the Virginia Department of Health. So, at this point (4/4), in Virginia we’re at 2,407 total reported cases, 390 hospitalizations and 52 deaths from COVID-19. The number of reported cases went up 395 (+20%) in the latest statistics, which is a slightly higher rate of increase than the day before, when reported cases were up 308 (+18%). As for hospitalizations, they went up 78 (+25%), from 312 to 390, which is a slightly slower rate of increase than the previous day (which was up 66, or +27%). Deaths went up 6 (from 46 to 52), compared to an increase of 5 (from 41 to 46) the previous day. So overall, not great news, almost any way you look at it. Hopefully, this curve will start “flattening out” in coming days if we keep up the social distancing and other measures. Also, of course, we need a LOT more testing capacity, PPE, etc.
