Today, the Supreme Court of Virginia decided in favor of Attorney General Herring and his team and denied a review of the Culpeper County lawsuit brought by State Senator Bill Stanley and State Senator Ryan McDougle against Governor Northam’s Executive Orders that were issued to save lives and slow the spread of COVID-19.

Statement from AG Mark Herring:

“I’m really pleased we were again able to successfully defend Governor Northam’s Executive Orders that have proven to be effective in keeping our communities safe, keeping Virginians healthy, and preventing further spread of COVID-19,” said Attorney General Herring. “During these difficult and unprecedented times, we must continue to all work together to keep ourselves, our families, and our communities safe and healthy.

“We all have a role to play in fighting against this pandemic and my team and I are working every single day to help Virginians navigate this crisis. We are defending the Governor’s critical safety measures that have proven effective in slowing the spread of the virus. We are helping Virginians access healthcare, cracking down on price gouging, and making sure that utilities stay on during these hard times. My team and I will continue to fight for Virginians and do everything we can to make circumstances easier.”
