NOTE: There seems to be declining interest in this daily update, so I’m cutting it down somewhat and might reduce the # of times per week as well. No, the pandemic is not even CLOSE to being over, but at this point a lot of people seem to have simply lost interest and moved on…for better or (most probably) worse.

See below for graphics of the newly posted COVID-19 numbers by the Virginia Department of Health and the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association. So, at this point (6/24), in Virginia we’re at 59,514 total reported – confirmed plus probable – cases (note that actual cases, as well as deaths, could be higher, maybe even a LOT higher, based on stories like this one in the NY Times), 5,955 hospitalizations and 1,661 deaths from COVID-19. The number of reported cases went up 520 (+0.9%) in the latest statistics, which is the same rate of increase than the day before, when reported cases were up 529 (+0.9%). The number of TOTAL test results was 636,096 (up 8,848 from 627,248 yesterday).  As for hospitalizations, they went up 42 (+0.7%), from 5,913 to 5,955, which is the same rate of increase than the day before, when hospitalizations were up 44 (0.7%). Deaths are reported up 16 (from 1,645 to 1,661), compared to an increase of 25 (from 1,620 to 1,645) the previous day.
