Bob Good Must Take A Stand Against Plan To Defund Social Security and Medicare

Washington Post: President Trump’s Executive Order would have “catastrophic fiscal effects on programs including Social Security”

Over the weekend, President Trump announced an executive order that would defund Social Security and Medicare and even mulled permanently defunding these crucial programs.

Bob Good has already come out in support of both cutting Social Security and raising payroll taxes, so he needs to answer whether he supports these efforts to rip these lifesaving programs away from American seniors in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic or if he’s sticking with his plan to raise middle class taxes.

“We’re in the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression. It’s time for Bob Good to be honest about whether he supports this plan to defund Social Security and Medicare, delivering a devastating blow to seniors already reeling from this health and economic crisis. Good also needs to answer whether he still supports raising taxes to fund Social Security in light of this order,” said DCCC spokesperson Sarah Guggenheimer. “Virginians deserve to know if Good will do what’s right or, more likely, proudly join these efforts to gut crucial lifelines that millions of Americans rely on while continuing to not prioritize those most hurt by the crisis.”

These attacks on Social Security and Medicare are not new. In 2017, with Bob Good’s support, House Republicans passed a plan to cut taxes for the rich while jeopardizing Social Security and Medicare.
