ICYMI: Assistant Commonwealth Attorney Confirms Scott Taylor and His Campaign Are Still Under Investigation For Election Fraud
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA— Today, Congresswoman Elaine Luria’s re-election campaign released the following statement on Scott Taylor’s cease and desist letter, which resulted in the Roanoke Assistant Commonwealth Attorney John Beamer announcing that Taylor’s entire campaign is still under investigation for election fraud, which includes Taylor himself.
“What we learned from yesterday is what we knew this entire time; not only is Taylor and his campaign still under investigation for election fraud, more indictments are likely to come,” said Campaign Manager Veronica Ingham. “Taylor thinks he can intimidate his political opponents into silence with legal threats, but Coastal Virginians know they deserve more from their leaders. It’s why they rejected Scott Taylor in 2018 and why they’ll do the same come this November.”
The investigation into allegations of election fraud committed by Taylor and his campaign began in 2018 after an attempt to get third party candidate Shaun Brown on the ballot with fraudulent signatures. Richmond Circuit Court Judge Gregory Rupe discarded all petitions turned in by Lauren Creekmore, Heather Guillot, Roberta Marciano, Rob Catron and David Bohner, all working for the Taylor campaign, finding each and every one of them disallowed based on the conduct of the Taylor campaign and others. As a result, one conviction directly related to the activities of staffer Lauren Creekmore was announced by the Special Prosecutor and a second Taylor staffer, Roberta Marciano was indicted this May, she is scheduled to appear in court on September 24. Taylor and his campaign have now been under investigation longer than he served in Congress.
