ICYMI: Momentum Across Virginia for Democratic Ticket During Convention Week

This week, the Democratic National Convention highlighted Virginians’ overwhelming support for the Biden-Harris ticket. Each day during the four-day convention, hundreds of Virginians tuned into watch parties that featured Virginia leaders and the stories of voters across the Commonwealth. The watch parties included special education teacher and mother of three Stephanie Cook, civil rights and Democratic activist Barbara Lee, daughter of immigrants and sexual assault survivor Malena Llanos, and retired U.S. Navy Commander Shawn Skelly. Virginians also saw Gold Star father Khizr Khan representing our Commonwealth during the nationwide roll call vote.

On the final night of the Democratic Convention, hundreds of Virginians joined a drive-in convention watch party in Northern Virginia to celebrate Joe Biden’s acceptance speech.

Below are highlights from the week:

Khizr Khan from Charlottesville represented Virginia in the national roll call to nominate Joe Biden. Listen to his remarks here.

Stephanie Cook from Franklin County represented teachers and educators at a statewide watch party. Hear more about Stephanie here.
