See below for graphics of the newly posted COVID-19 numbers by the Virginia Department of Health and the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association. So, at this point (9/20), in Virginia we’re at 140,511 total reported – confirmed plus probable – cases (note that actual cases, as well as deaths, could be higher, maybe even a LOT higher, based on stories like this one in the NY Times), 10,591 hospitalizations and 3,015 deaths from COVID-19. The number of reported cases went up 856 (+0.6%) in the latest statistics, which is a slightly slower rate of increase than the day before, when reported cases were up 953 (+0.7%). The number of TOTAL test results was 2,023,267 (up 15,944 from yesterday), which is well below what we need, according to researchers at Harvard that would be 22,422/day for mitigation, 81,741/day for suppression)…but note that these numbers have been fluctuating wildly, so not sure if we can really trust them. As for hospitalizations, they went up 29 (+0.3%), which is a slightly slower rate of increase than the day before, when hospitalizations were up 42 (+0.4%). Deaths are reported +25, compared to +41 the previous day
