See below for tweets by the Fairfax County Democratic Committee (FCDC) on passage of a “near-unanimous resolution to affirm our support for the all-Democratic Fairfax County School Board as they make evidence-based decisions about school reopening plans.” As FCDC’s tweets explain:

“We are in the middle of the worst pandemic in a century. We are all hurting. Every family is touched by this crisis. To make any assumption that our School Board members are making decisions against the public’s best interest is foolhardy and selfish.

Make no mistake, the effort to recall duly elected members of the School Board is a political move by local Republicans to subvert the will of the voters. The Right-Wing fanaticism of the Republican candidates in last year’s elections did not persuade voters to their cause. In fact, we saw the largest turnout for Democratic candidates for local offices up and down the ballot in recent memory.

Given current circumstances, the School Board already has a tough job without the misinformation and harassment they’ve experienced over the last few months. What’s even more shameful is the fact that these Republican operatives and failed candidates are using the guise of “equity” to confuse parents, students and teachers into thinking that this “movement” cares about anything more than dismantling public education.

Add your name to this petition and stand with our Democratic School Board. Encourage your friends, families, and neighbors to sign.
