Tuesday (12/22) Virginia Data on COVID-19 Finds +3,591 Confirmed/Probable Cases (to 314,481), +135 Hospitalizations (to 17,083), +51 Deaths (to 4,705)

Hospitalizations hit another record high.

See below for graphics of the newly posted COVID-19 numbers by the Virginia Department of Health and the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association. So, at this point (12/22), in Virginia we’re at 314,481 total reported – confirmed plus probable – cases (note that actual cases, as well as deaths, could be higher, maybe even a LOT higher, based on stories like this one in the NY Times), 17,083 hospitalizations and 4,705 deaths from COVID-19. The number of reported cases went up 3,591 (+1.2%) in the latest statistics, which is a slightly slower rate of increase than the day before, when reported cases were up 4,042 (+1.3%). As for hospitalizations, they went up 135 (+0.8%), which is a faster rate of increase than the day before, when hospitalizations were up 70 (+0.4%).  Deaths are reported +51, compared to +4 the previous day. The number of PCR-ONLY test results is currently at 3,993,232 (up 18,216 from yesterday).
