See below for comments by Virginia’s Congressional delegation on the U.S. House’s 275-134 vote vote a few minutes ago to boost COVID-19 relief checks to $2,000. Not surprisingly, Democrats voted nearly unanimously (231-2) for this bill, while Republicans were mostly against it, with 44 voting “yea” and 130 voting “nay.” As you can see, Virginia Democrats supported this extra aid to Virginians, as did Rep. Denver Riggleman (R-VA05), while three of four Virginia Republicans (Rep. Rob Wittman – VA01; Rep. Ben Cline – VA06; Rep. Morgan Griffith – VA09) opposed it. Note that Griffith’s and Cline’s professed reasons for voting against $2,000 COVID-19 relief checks make absolutely no sense, especially given that these same Republicans voted repeatedly to explode the deficit and debt in order to give massive tax breaks to corporations and rich people. So no, they don’t actually care about “wasteful spending,” whatever the hell they even mean by that…
Virginia Dems All Vote to Provide $2,000 COVID Relief Checks; Republicans Rob Wittman (VA01), Ben Cline (VA06), Morgan Griffith (VA09) Callously Vote No
Also, outgoing Rep. Denver Riggleman (R-VA05) votes YES.
