Wednesday (12/30) Virginia Data on COVID-19 Finds +4,048 Confirmed/Probable Cases (to 344,345), +128 Hospitalizations (to 17,910), +64 Deaths (to 4,984)

Hospitalizations hit another record high.

See below for graphics of the newly posted COVID-19 numbers by the Virginia Department of Health and the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association. So, at this point (12/30), in Virginia we’re at 344,345 total reported – confirmed plus probable – cases (note that actual cases, as well as deaths, could be higher, maybe even a LOT higher, based on stories like this one in the NY Times), 17,910 hospitalizations and 4,984 deaths from COVID-19. The number of reported cases went up 4,048 (+1.2%) in the latest statistics, which is the same rate of increase than the day before, when reported cases were up 4,122 (+1.2%). As for hospitalizations, they went up 128 (+0.7%), which is a slower rate of increase than the day before, when hospitalizations were up 177 (+1.0%).  Deaths are reported +64, compared to +59 the previous day. The number of PCR-ONLY test results is currently at 4,220,943 (up 29,130 from yesterday).
