So, at this point (1/9), in Virginia we’re at 393,715 total reported – confirmed plus probable – cases (note that actual cases, as well as deaths, could be higher, maybe even a LOT higher, based on stories like this one in the NY Times), 19,025 hospitalizations and 5,381 deaths from COVID-19. The number of reported cases went up 5,798 (+1.5%) in the latest statistics, which is a slightly faster rate of increase than the day before, when reported cases were up 5,238 (+1.4%). As for hospitalizations, they went up 107 (+0.6%), which is a slightly slower rate of increase than the day before, when hospitalizations were up 128 (+0.7%). Deaths are reported +69, compared to +37 the previous day. The number of PCR-ONLY test results is currently at 4,537,960 (up 37,958 from yesterday).
