Tuesday (1/12) Virginia Data on COVID-19 Finds +4,561 Confirmed/Probable Cases (to 407,947), +144 Hospitalizations (to 19,326), +84 Deaths (to 5,477)

Hospitalizations hit new record high

See below for graphics of the newly posted COVID-19 numbers by the Virginia Department of Health and the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association. So, at this point (1/12), in Virginia we’re at 407,947 total reported – confirmed plus probable – cases (note that actual cases, as well as deaths, could be higher, maybe even a LOT higher, based on stories like this one in the NY Times), 19,326 hospitalizations and 5,477 deaths from COVID-19. The number of reported cases went up 4,561 (+1.1%) in the latest statistics, which is the same rate of increase than the day before, when reported cases were up 4,530 (+1.3%). As for hospitalizations, they went up 144 (+0.8%), which is a faster rate of increase than the day before, when hospitalizations were up 87 (+0.5%).  Deaths are reported +84, compared to +10 the previous day. The number of PCR-ONLY test results is currently at 4,640,967 (up 19,827 from yesterday).
