See below for graphics of the newly posted COVID-19 numbers by the Virginia Department of Health and the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association. So, at this point (3/12), in Virginia we’re at 592,214 total reported – confirmed plus probable – cases (note that actual cases, as well as deaths, could be higher, maybe even a LOT higher, based on stories like this one in the NY Times), 25,216 hospitalizations and 9,961 deaths from COVID-19. The number of reported cases went to 1,589 (+0.3%) in the latest statistics, which is a slightly faster rate of increase than the day before, when reported cases were up 1,246 (+0.2%). As for hospitalizations, they went up 155 (+0.6%), which is the same rate of increase than the day before, when hospitalizations were up 136 (+0.6%). Deaths are reported +59, compared to +53 the previous day. The number of PCR-ONLY test results is currently at 6,132,452 (up 27,424 from yesterday).
P.S. VDH notes, “VDH is now processing 2021 death certificates related to the post-holiday surge of COVID-19 cases. As a result, a larger number of deaths is expected to be added by report date.”
