Monday (3/8) Virginia Data on COVID-19 Finds +892 Confirmed/Probable Cases (to 586,592), +44 Hospitalizations (to 24,705), +87 Deaths (to 9,683)

See below for graphics of the newly posted COVID-19 numbers by the Virginia Department of Health and the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association. So, at this point (3/8), in Virginia we’re at 586,592 total reported – confirmed plus probable – cases (note that actual cases, as well as deaths, could be higher, maybe even a LOT higher, based on stories like this one in the NY Times), 24,705 hospitalizations and 9,683 deaths from COVID-19. The number of reported cases went to 892 (+0.2%) in the latest statistics, which is the same rate of increase than the day before, when reported cases were up 1,163 (+0.2%). As for hospitalizations, they went up 44 (+0.2%), which is a slightly faster rate of increase than the day before, when hospitalizations were up 24 (+0.1%).  Deaths are reported +87, compared to +77 the previous day. The number of PCR-ONLY test results is currently at 6,050,079 (up 11,870 from yesterday).

P.S. VDH notes, “VDH is now processing 2021 death certificates related to the post-holiday surge of COVID-19 cases. As a result, a larger number of deaths is expected to be added by report date.”
