Tuesday (3/9) Virginia Data on COVID-19 Finds +1,537 Confirmed/Probable Cases (to 588,129), +136 Hospitalizations (to 24,841), +107 Deaths (to 9,790)

See below for graphics of the newly posted COVID-19 numbers by the Virginia Department of Health and the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association. So, at this point (3/9), in Virginia we’re at 588,129 total reported – confirmed plus probable – cases (note that actual cases, as well as deaths, could be higher, maybe even a LOT higher, based on stories like this one in the NY Times), 24,841 hospitalizations and 9,790 deaths from COVID-19. The number of reported cases went to 1,537 (+0.3%) in the latest statistics, which is a slightly faster rate of increase than the day before, when reported cases were up 892 (+0.2%). As for hospitalizations, they went up 136 (+0.6%), which is a faster rate of increase than the day before, when hospitalizations were up 44 (+0.2%).  Deaths are reported +107, compared to +87 the previous day. The number of PCR-ONLY test results is currently at 6,066,323 (up 16,244 from yesterday).

P.S. VDH notes, “VDH is now processing 2021 death certificates related to the post-holiday surge of COVID-19 cases. As a result, a larger number of deaths is expected to be added by report date.”
