From the Democratic Party of Virginia:
Virginia Republicans Still Have No Clue What They’re Doing
Richmond, VA — With less than two months until their currently selected “convention” date, Virginia Republicans still have no clue how they’re going to nominate candidates for statewide office. After months of infighting and chaotic meetings, the Virginia GOP’s “plan” to host a convention at Liberty University fell through last week, which means they’ll be holding another contentious meeting as they continue to struggle desperately with the nomination process.
While Liberty University made it clear that their experience hosting circuses and carnivals would put the GOP convention right at home, the Republican Party of Virginia still failed to settle this plan. Now, the “disorganized and broke” Virginia GOP will have to go back to the drawing board — and the clock is ticking.
Yesterday, Virginia GOP Chairman Rich Anderson gave an embarrassingly defeated interview, in which he described the current predicament as a “failure” of his own committee and “a calamitous disaster.” John Fredericks — Donald Trump’s former Virginia Campaign Chair — called it an embarrassment and a joke, and said that the RPV is “the laughing stock of the nation.”
“It’s not often that we agree with the Republican Party of Virginia, but I think we can all come together and agree that they are a complete embarrassment,” said Manuel Bonder, DPVA spokesman. “While the GOP desperately struggles to perform the most basic party functions, their candidates are mired in a brutal, chaotic race to the far right. However they choose their nominee, they’re guaranteeing the winner will be a far-right extremist weakened by a brutal nomination fight.”
