As The President and First Lady Visit Virginia, The Commonwealth Is Already Seeing The Benefits Of Democratic Leadership
Richmond, VA — As President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden visit Virginia schools today to highlight the benefits of the American Jobs Plan and American Families Plan, Virginia is getting back on track. From turning the corner on the COVID-19 pandemic thanks to his American Rescue Plan to the historic investments being made in the Commonwealth outlined in the American Jobs Plan and the new American Families Plan, when it comes to President Biden’s first hundred days, the numbers don’t lie:
2.7 million: The number of Virginians fully vaccinated thanks to the Biden-Harris administration’s efforts in the first 100 days.
46%: The number of Virginia adults who have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
5.1 million: The number of Virginia adults who received checks of up to $1,400 thanks to ARP.
$2.1 billion: the amount of funding K-12 schools in Virginia have received to get back on track.
$7.3 billion: the amount of relief payments Virginia state and local governments have received from ARP.
$3,600: The amount Virginia families will receive for each child under 18 starting in July, thanks to the child tax credit in ARP.
2,124: Miles of Virginia highway in poor condition that would stand to benefit from the passage of the ARP.
827,900: The number of Virginians living in areas where by one definition, there is no broadband infrastructure that provides minimally acceptable internet speeds. The AJP will invest $100 billion to bring high-speed, affordable coverage to every family in America.
47%: The percentage of Virginians who live in childcare deserts and would benefit from the AJP’s investment in early learning facilities.
ZERO: The number of Virginia Republicans who have supported either President Biden’s AJP or ARP.
“Thanks to President Biden’s leadership, checks are going into Virginians’ pockets, shots are going into arms, and the Commonwealth is turning the corner,” said DPVA Executive Director Andrew Whitley. “The American Jobs Plan and American Families Plan will build on this success and reinvigorate our economy. From critical infrastructure projects to expand rural broadband and fix our roads, to making transformative investments in education and child care, Democrats are focused on building a better future for Virginia. Meanwhile, Virginia Republicans’ unconscionable opposition to these popular plans is further proof that they’re far too extreme to lead our Commonwealth.” |
