Sen. Tim Kaine: It’s “Absolutely Imperative” To Protect Voting Rights; Hopes For “comprehensive voting rights bill—with all 50 Democrats on board—on the Senate floor for a vote in the coming weeks”

Sen. Tim Kaine is absolutely right – it’s “absolutely imperative—and made even more dramatically so by the attack on our democracy on January 6—that we protect the voting rights of the American people.” So yeah, it’s past time to “get a comprehensive voting rights bill—with all 50 Democrats on board—on the Senate floor for a vote in the coming weeks… to protect our democracy and people’s ability to participate.” And if that requires “leap[ing] at” Sen. Joe Manchin’s compromise deal…that may have to be the answer, given the 50-50 Senate, along with litigation, aggressive action by the US Justice Department, and whatever other voting rights legislation can be gotten through Congress, perhaps as part of a budget bill, using reconciliation or whatever…
