Just a reminder that Rep. Elaine Luria (D-VA02) is a hero, fighting every day to defend our democracy against authoritarian, Trumpist forces. Check out the following video of Rep. Luria speaking earlier today on how Trump’s effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election “was a blatant attack on the rule of law.” According to Rep. Luria, the 1/6 committee has “heard from 475 witnesses at this point…60,000 documents,” while a few people – Rep. Luria specifically mentioned Mark Meadows and Steve Bannon – are “outliers…their obstruction is obviously not in line with their constitutional duty to appear for a subpoena.” Fortunately, “the work of the committee is really going on with a lot of valuable information from people in the former administration.” Rep. Luria added that there are members of the US House who “have valuable information” which the committee is seeking. As for Donald Trump’s comments about Mike Pence and overturning the election. Rep. Luria said that from her “personal perspective,” Trump “is telling us what he did, he’s been telling us all along what he did.”
