Richmond, VA – Energized for Change (EFC) PAC, launched in 2019 by Delegate Eileen Filler-Corn to help Democrats gain the majority in the House of Delegates, is today relaunching with an expanded scope to Turn Virginia Blue and help elect Democrats from the school board to Capitol Square. Filler-Corn, who served as the first woman and first Jewish Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates, has organized nearly $7 million toward ensuring the success of Democrats up and down the ticket since the launch of EFC PAC in 2019, and plans to build on those successes.
Filler-Corn said:
“National right-wing special interests have come to Virginia, and we must stop them before they can make further gains. Freedom and safety are under daily attack with threats to children, women’s healthcare, access to abortion, gun safety, voting rights, worker safety, public education and so much more. Governor Youngkin and Republican leaders want to turn back the clock on the gains we have made and return to the days of a less just, less fair and less safe Commonwealth. Our focus is to elect Democrats from the school board to Capitol Square, so that we turn Virginia blue and ensure that Virginia remains safe, open and welcoming to all.”
Governor Youngkin, by his speeches, vetoes, Executive Orders and other actions, has taken a page from the national right-wing playbook: give to those with the most by taking from those with the least. In order to stop him and his right-wing march to take over Virginia, Energized for Change PAC plans to help build a deep blue bench and assist in electing individuals up and down the ballot who put people and diverse policies first.
Energized for Change’s mission is to immediately work to stop the governor from rolling back the gains our Democratic Majority and Governor Northam made, while building a long-term team of Democrats to turn Virginia a permanent blue.
As House Democratic Leader in 2019, Eileen Filler-Corn led the effort to flip the Virginia House of Delegates blue for the first time in a generation, leading to the passage of transformational progressive policies on gun safety, criminal justice reform, voting access, environmental protections, abolition of the death penalty, historic investments in public education, and more. In 2021, Filler-Corn raised an historic $4.2 million and donated $4.1 million to ensure Democrats in every battleground district had a financial advantage over Republican opponents. With EFC PAC’s new focus, Filler-Corn will continue her longtime commitment to the House of Delegates while also ensuring Democrats are expanding their majority in the Virginia Senate and making gains throughout the state on local governments, school boards, and anywhere help is needed.
